Some time ago I was looking for some info about lucid dreaming on the net and it was the first time I came across this Steve Pavlina’s blog. Few months later again I was searching for something in google and again ended up in his blog. Then I though, wow, this guy is really popular, he often gets ranked in the first google page, and I had to learn more about him.
Steve Pavlina in the early 1990s started out as a programmer, in early 1999 his games business was earning only $300/month, but after 5 years in business, he only had a trickle of consistent income. He was having a really hard time earning for a living.
In Oct 1st, 2004 he started a blog. An initial target goal he used when he first started this site was $3000 per month. It’s a somewhat arbitrary figure, but he knew if he could reach $3000 per month, he could certainly push it higher, and $3000 was enough income that could make a meaningful difference in his finances.
His blog is mostly about personal development. He covers such topics as courage, motivation, productivity, and the meaning of life. Writing personal development articles was a super good choice because it attracts masses of people. The reason for that is that there are millions of people in the world with even more millions of problems and questions. They all seek for some guidance and answers. The first place where modern person seeks for answers is probably google and yahoo, and there they find Steve Pavlina. Of course it was a natural choice because when you read his blog you can see that he really loves and believes what he writes.
At first his blog was ads-free, but a year later he began putting Google Adsense ads on the site in February 2005 and received a whopping $53 in the first month. In April 2005 he was getting $4.12 per day and in October 2006 he was averaging $1000/day. This web site, StevePavlina.com, is currently the most popular personal development web site in the world, receiving over 1.8 million visitors per month. Now he is retired from his job and lives from his blog income.
In his blog he advises never to get a job (article 10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job). Build systems that make money when you sleep! When you have a decent collection of articles in your website, it will bring visitors and revenue all the time even when you sleep while at work you get paid only when you work.
